Typically all our eXpress servers will be set up within 1 hour during a normal business day. Factors contributing to longer setup times may include server add-ons, custom configurations or addition of applications.

Q. What is RAID and do I need it?

RAID, or Redundant Array of Independent Disks, is a method for striping your data across multiple hard drives, then linking the disks so that the operating system on your server views them as a single drive. We offer RAID for your hard drives in a number of different configurations with our Dedicated Servers, including software, RAID1, RAID5 and RAID10

RAID-1: This type of RAID uses a method of data storage known as mirroring. This refers to the fact that every piece of data is written to at least two disks. As a result, RAID-1 offers a high degree of data security, but has a slight performance decrease because it requires capturing all data on two disks. You can purchase backup for your server as well to further improve your data security.

RAID-5: distributes parity along with the data and requires all drives but one to be present to operate; the array is not destroyed by a single drive failure. Upon drive failure, any subsequent reads can be calculated from the distributed parity such that the drive failure is masked from the end user. However, a single drive failure results in reduced performance of the entire array until the failed drive has been replaced and the associated data rebuilt. RAID-5 requires at least 3 disks

RAID-10: implementation provides data mirroring from one DDM to another DDM. RAID 10 stripes data across half of the disk drives in the RAID 10 configuration. The other half of the array mirrors the first set of disk drives. Access to data is preserved if one disk in each mirrored pair remains available. In some cases, RAID 10 offers faster data reads and writes than RAID 5 because it does not need to manage parity. However, with half of the DDMs in the group used for data and the other half used to mirror that data, RAID 10 disk groups have less capacity than RAID 5 disk groups. RAID 10 requires at least 4 disks

Netcetera offers different levels of Managed Services providing a different level of monitoring, security, and direct support with each dedicated server. Your server is categorized as one of the 3 levels and can be upgraded at anytime. The levels are the following: M100, M200 and M300
